About Crow Agency

Crow Agency is the governmental headquarters of the Crow Nation on the Crow Indian Reservation in Big Horn County. The community sits along the Little Bighorn River near Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, with Interstate 90 and U.S. 212 carrying traffic through the reservation. Federal agency offices also operate here, a reminder of the administrative history behind the name, while the reservation’s present-day government and community life are centered in Crow hands.

Little Big Horn College gives Crow Agency a tribal-college center, and local schools connect younger students with Hardin for high school. The annual Crow Fair, the Battle of the Little Bighorn reenactment, powwow grounds, river country, ranches, and reservation services put culture and place into the same calendar. Visitors may arrive for the battlefield, but residents are dealing with education, government, families, work, roads, and the everyday responsibilities of a sovereign community. Crow Agency is a working headquarters, a college town on a small scale, and a gateway to one of Montana’s most heavily remembered landscapes.
