Crown City, OH

Set right along the Ohio River at the southern tip of Gallia County, Crown City is a quiet village with a long local history. The community originally started in the mid-1800s as a river landing called Bay's Bottom, quickly growing into a regular stop for steamboats and trade before taking the name Crown City in 1870. Today, it gives newcomers a relaxed, rural atmosphere right on the water, surrounded by the green hills of southern Ohio.

Much of the village's character comes from its riverfront heritage, when ferries crossed over to West Virginia railroads and farmers brought local goods down to the wharf. Life moves at a much calmer pace now, but Crown City keeps that close-knit, small-town identity. Sitting along State Route 7 in Guyan Township, the area appeals to people seeking quiet country living, river views, and straightforward access to neighboring communities along the valley.
