About Crystal Beach

Crystal Beach is an Ontario County hamlet on the eastern shore of Canandaigua Lake, where the 2020 census counted 627 residents. New York Route 364 follows the lake corridor, while the shoreline gives the community its main geographic reference. Before the beach development, the Washburn family worked a large grape farm here. In 1929, Paul Ritchie of Finger Lakes Company bought the farm and later land, setting the stage for the cottage community that followed.

Deep Run Park gives the shoreline a seasonal swimming and picnic spot, with carry-in/carry-out rules, lifeguards, tables, grills, and restrooms. The park and cottages sit within the larger Finger Lakes pattern of vineyards, lake roads, and summer properties. Crystal Beach is small in census terms but has a distinctly lakeside routine: Route 364 for access, Canandaigua Lake for recreation, and a former grape farm beneath the cottage landscape. Summer cottages make the shoreline feel busier when lake season arrives. The lake is the reason this small neighborhood has a regional name.
