About Culpeper

Culpeper is an incorporated town and the county seat of Culpeper County in northern Virginia. It sits within the outer Washington-Baltimore orbit, but its local identity is older and more independent than a simple commuter town. Civil War history is a major part of the area, including the Battle of Cedar Mountain and the Army of the Potomac's winter encampment of 1863-64. Culpeper also has a traditional downtown, county services, schools, and a strong Piedmont Virginia setting.
