D'Hanis, TX

D'Hanis is a quiet, historic community in Medina County, sitting right along Highway 90 about fifty miles west of San Antonio. Founded in 1847 by Alsatian settlers, the town has a unique two-part footprint. The original settlement, now called Old D'Hanis, sits along Seco Creek and features the limestone ruins of St. Dominic Church alongside its historic cemetery. When the railroad arrived in the 1880s, the town center shifted just down the road, forming the modern community where most residents live today.
