About Uvalde

Uvalde is the county seat of Uvalde County, Texas, situated in the Texas Hill Country region eighty miles west of San Antonio. Founded in 1853 as Encina by Reading Wood Black, the city of approximately 15,417 is famous for its production of huajillo honey and contains the historic John Nance Garner House museum. The city houses Southwest Texas Junior College and is served by Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District.
