Dagsboro, DE

Dagsboro sits in Sussex County near the Indian River and the routes leading toward Delaware's beach communities. The 2020 census counted 870 residents. The town began in 1747 as Blackfoot Town and later appeared as Dagsbury and Dagsborough before taking the name of General John Dagsworthy. Prince George's Chapel, built in 1755, is one of the oldest buildings in Dagsboro and remains the clearest reminder that the town's story predates the modern beach traffic. That traffic now shapes the local map. Delaware Route 26 carries summer-bound cars toward the coast, while Route 113 brings a shopping center and the town's larger commercial run.

Route 26 also connects the older center with the newer traffic pattern. Downtown antique shops, Katie Helm Park, the Clayton Theatre, and the Indian River School District provide familiar local landmarks. Dagsboro is a small inland town with a river setting and a seasonal road rhythm: school and town routines most of the year, beach traffic passing through in summer.
