Dalton, OH

Dalton is a village in Wayne County built around a Main Street, Village Green, and the roads connecting Sugar Creek Township to the rest of the county. The community took shape in the 1850s through the merging of neighboring settlements, and its local history is still easy to find at the Dalton Community Historical Society. The society's collection includes the Old Eagle Hotel and Tavern, a log cabin built in 1821, along with photographs, school memorabilia, and a 1936 Reo Seagraves fire truck. Dalton's current civic map is straightforward: Village Hall on West Main, the Village Green with pavilions and ball fields, the Wayne County Public Library branch, and the Rails to Trails path starting near the Green and running toward Bottoms Park in Massillon. Dalton Local Schools serve the community. Recreation, village meetings, library hours, and local history all sit within a few blocks of the road through town.
