About Davenport

Davenport is a Polk County city in Central Florida, southwest of Orlando and close to the fast-growing resort and commuter corridors around Interstate 4. The area's recorded settlement history reaches back to 1838, when the U.S. military established Fort Davenport during the Second Seminole War. For a long time the surrounding northeast Polk County area was rural, with citrus, small towns, and attractions such as Circus World nearby. Today Davenport is better known for residential growth, vacation homes, and proximity to Walt Disney World and the Orlando market.
