Deerfield, MA

Deerfield is a scenic Franklin County town in western Massachusetts' Pioneer Valley, located along the Connecticut and Deerfield Rivers about 30 miles north of Springfield. Home to roughly 5,100 residents, the town offers a classic New England setting with convenient highway access along Interstate 91. Daily life splits naturally between two distinct areas: the quiet, historic neighborhood of Old Deerfield and the more commercial, practical center in South Deerfield. Old Deerfield is centered around "The Street," a picturesque mile-long road laid out in the 1670s and lined with stately colonial homes. Historic Deerfield maintains a collection of preserved museum houses and exhibitions here, alongside private family homes and the campus of Deerfield Academy. You will find grocery stores, neighborhood restaurants, and the popular Yankee Candle Village, which draws visitors from all over the region. For outdoor recreation, Mount Sugarloaf State Reservation sits right on the edge of the village. Commuters have an easy time getting around, since I-91, Route 5, and Route 116 make it simple to reach Greenfield in ten minutes or head south to Northampton, Amherst, and Springfield.
