Deerfield, MI

Deerfield is a Lenawee County village within Deerfield Township, with the River Raisin flowing through the area and forming much of the village's southern edge. William Kedzie bought the first local land in 1824 and became the area's first resident two years later. The settlement sits in the farm country between Britton and the larger roads toward Monroe and Adrian, with the river and village streets giving the place its shape through all four seasons.

Britton Deerfield Schools keeps the two communities in one school system. The Deerfield campus houses upper elementary and middle school grades, while the Britton campus holds the high school, elementary school, preschool, and Great Start programs. The River Raisin also opens a recreational side of town through paddling and river views, and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church adds a late-nineteenth-century landmark. Deerfield's everyday pattern is built from local school buses, township roads, small farms, and a river that runs through the southern part of the village.
