Delevan, NY

Delevan is a Cattaraugus County village within the Town of Yorkshire, centered on NY Route 16 in the county's east-central farm country. The first lot was cleared around 1821, and the settlement changed its name from Yorkshire Center to Delevan in 1892 before village incorporation in 1915. County Routes 20, 21, and 73 meet the village limits, making Main Street and Route 16 the practical spine for municipal offices and trips toward Lime Lake, Yorkshire, and the rest of western New York.

The town and village share the same Delevan address but handle different pieces of local life: Yorkshire Town Hall sits on South Main Street, while Village Hall operates from the Delevan Municipal Building. The village has its own water billing and is working through a proposed public sewer project that would connect local properties to the Lime Lake Sewer District and treatment at Arcade. Lime Lake and Elton Creek shape the surrounding recreation and drainage landscape, with Lime Lake Marine & RV serving as a visible Route 16 business. Delevan's local scoop is the layered government: one small center, two municipal names, and infrastructure being updated beneath a nineteenth-century road pattern.
