DeLisle, MS

DeLisle is a Harrison County CDP of 1,275 residents in the 2020 census, four miles north of Pass Christian on the north side of DeLisle Bayou and the Wolf River. I-10 bounds the community to the north, while the bayous and marshes pull the map south toward St. Louis Bay. The place grew from French colonial settlement around the coast; an early name was La Riviere des Loups, later Wolf Town, and the post office adopted DeLisle in 1884. DeLisle Elementary sits near the community’s traditional center, with scattered homes, small businesses, working farms, and the Chemours titanium-dioxide plant making up the present-day mix.

Henderson Avenue and Hampton Road cross Bayou Portage, the Wolf River, and Bayou DeLisle on the way to Pass Christian, so bridges matter as much as straight-line distance. The nearby Wolf River marshes and DeLisle Bayou carry the coastal landscape into daily life, while Gulfport-Biloxi supplies the wider regional orbit. The local scoop is a back-bay community where French settlement, industrial work, farm roads, and bayou water all share the same few crossings.
