About Delleker
Delleker is a Plumas County census-designated place just west of Portola, with its history tied closely to the timber mill along Humbug Creek. The Feather River Lumber Company built a mill here after forming in 1905, and the settlement grew around mill workers, a company store, a post office, and the small railroad that carried cut timber to the millpond. The place was named for William H. Delleker, one of the company's directors and shareholders. The old millpond and concrete embankment still mark the industrial footprint.
