About Depew

Depew is a town in Creek County, Oklahoma, United States. The 2020 census counted 411 residents. Depew is 41 miles southwest of Tulsa. The town was named in honor of New York Senator Chauncey Depew. The short version is that Depew carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Depew: its past remains attached to the places people use now. Depew began as a settlement named Hall in 1898, when the St. Louis and Oklahoma City Railroad built a line between Sapulpa and Oklahoma City. Malley named the community, gave it the present name and opened a post office. Depew is approximately 29 miles southwest of Sapulpa.
