About Divide

Divide is an unincorporated town, a post office, and a census-designated place located in and governed by Teller County, Colorado, United States. The 2020 census counted 143 residents. The CDP is a part of the Colorado Springs, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Divide, Colorado, post office opened on June 26, 1889. The short version is that Divide carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Divide: its past remains attached to the places people use now. The town was named for Ute Pass between the Arkansas River watershed and the Missouri River watershed. Divide sits on the north slope of Pikes Peak. Ute Pass is immediately west of town.
