About Dodson
Dodson began as Dodsonville in 1910 when Frank Kell promoted the Wellington branch of the Wichita Falls and Northwestern Railway, and Elmore Dodson supplied land for the station town. A cotton gin, stores, churches, a newspaper, school, water system, and volunteer fire department followed. Dodson now serves the farm country of southeastern Collingsworth County, northeastern Childress County, and western Harmon County, Oklahoma, where cotton, wheat, sorghum, peanuts, and cattle shape the working landscape. The town lies 13 miles southeast of Wellington and 12 miles northwest of Hollis, with Wellington ISD providing public education.
