About Dogtown

Dogtown is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in San Joaquin County, California, situated in the Central Valley near Lodi. Originally settled in the mid-nineteenth century near a pioneer town known as Mackville, the rural community of approximately 3,094 took its name from the large number of local dogs. Public education is served by the Lodi Unified School District.
