Doland, SD

Doland is a tiny, quiet farming community in eastern South Dakota with around 200 residents. Originally founded as a railroad stop in the 1880s, the town offers plenty of open space and a relaxed, rural pace. Families with school-age kids benefit from having their own local K-12 school right in town, which is a big plus for a community this size. If you are looking for simple prairie living where everybody knows their neighbors, Doland has plenty of small-town charm.
