Huron, SD

Set along the James River in east-central South Dakota, Huron is a friendly prairie city of about 14,000 people. Life moves at an easy pace along Highway 14, where you can't miss the towering 28-foot pheasant statue that greets travelers and hunters from across the region. The town is best known as the home of the South Dakota State Fair, which fills late summer with concerts, carnival rides, and livestock shows.
