About Double Spring
Double Spring is a tiny Douglas County CDP on the west side of U.S. 395, southeast of Minden, with a name that came from the water. Nevada’s historical marker places the old station at a pair of springs on the road through the south end of the Pine Nut Mountains. It was also called Round Tent Ranch or Spragues, and travelers used it as a stop between Carson and Walker valleys and on toward Esmeralda County. Nearby Mammoth Ledge once held a post office and polling place. Double Spring is western Nevada in its old travel-station form: water, ranch roads, a toll road, and a place to pause before the next valley.
