About Dow City

Dow City is a city in Crawford County, Iowa, United States, along the Boyer River. The 2020 census counted 485 residents. Dow settled at what is now Dow City in 1855. In 1869, he laid out the town in anticipation of the railroad being built through the settlement. That mix gives Dow City a clear local shape within Iowa, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. Dow City is located on U.S. Route 30 and is thirty miles north of Interstate 80.
