Dravosburg, PA

Dravosburg is a one-square-mile river borough tucked between West Mifflin and the Monongahela in Allegheny County. The river forms the borough’s eastern edge, with McKeesport across the water, while streets climb inland toward the Pittsburgh metro’s south hills. A post office appeared here in 1863, and the borough was incorporated in 1903. Its name comes from John F. Dravo, a local coal-industry leader and boat manufacturer, which gives the community’s history a direct connection to the Monongahela’s working waterfront.

Coal shaped the early economy, but present-day Dravosburg is held together by neighborhood institutions and small businesses. Family-owned auto and diesel shops, food-service and industrial suppliers, restaurants, and taverns line the practical side of town. A volunteer fire department, American Legion Post 380, Masonic Lodge, crossing guards, and community events keep civic life visible on Maple and Duquesne avenues. There is no big-city spectacle here; the local scoop is the river view, the old industrial footprint, and a borough where several generations still know the same streets.
