Drexel, OH

Drexel is a Montgomery County census-designated place in Jefferson Township, with 1,693 residents in the 2020 census. It occupies the northeast corner of the township between Trotwood and Dayton. U.S. 35 forms the community’s northern and eastern travel spine, taking drivers into midtown Dayton in about six miles and west toward Eaton. The roads quickly change character here: a four-lane highway, older residential streets, open lots, and township edges sit close together. Opossum Creek drains south toward the Great Miami River.

Drexel’s identity comes from that in-between position. It is a named community with its own census boundary, but it is unincorporated and relies on Jefferson Township and nearby cities for much of the larger civic map. Dayton supplies jobs, hospitals, and regional errands, while Trotwood borders the north and the Great Miami watershed gives the land its natural direction.
