About Dubois

Dubois is a Fremont County town on the upper Wind River, where the local story runs through Mountain Shoshone seasonal routes, ranching, tie hacks, and dude ranches. The town incorporated in 1914, the same year Wyoming Tie and Timber opened log-milling operations that supplied railroad ties on a huge scale. The Dubois Museum and Wind River Historical Center keeps those layers together, from Sheepeater history to tie-hack cabins and early ranch life. U.S. 26 begins the Wyoming Centennial Scenic Byway here. Dubois is a Wyoming town where the Wind River, the railroad-tie trade, and the mountains all remain part of the conversation.
