Duboistown, PA

DuBoistown is a Lycoming County borough at the mouth of Mosquito Run on the West Branch Susquehanna River, across from the Williamsport area. John and Mathias DuBois bought land here between 1852 and 1857, divided it into parcels, and gave the settlement its name; the borough was established in 1878. The site has a much older story: Susquehannock settlement remains and artifacts were found near the river and the Sheshequin Path, while early settler Andrew Culbertson later ran a sawmill, gristmill, distillery, and oil press at Mosquito Run. The borough’s riverbank, bridges, railroad, and small civic routines sit on a former mill-and-trade crossing. Even the December Candy Cane Lane tradition adds a local marker to the calendar.
