Eagle River, MI

Perched along M-26 on the Keweenaw Peninsula, Eagle River is a tiny Lake Superior village with deep roots and big views. Though it started as a bustling copper boomtown, life here moves at a much calmer pace today. The historic county courthouse still anchors the center, while Eagle River Falls tumbles toward the lake just steps from a windswept beach.

Despite its small population, Eagle River serves as the county seat, giving the community a quiet sense of permanence. Locals and visitors gather for dinner right on the water at The Fitz or head just down the highway to the Jampot for fresh bakery treats and wild berry jams. Living here means trading suburban convenience for cool lake breezes, dramatic winter snowfalls, and one of the most scenic stretches of shoreline in the Upper Peninsula.
