About Early
Early is a Sac County city of 587 residents at the 2020 census, and the town has a move in its family history. Early was first platted two and a half miles south of the present site in 1878, then shifted to its current location in 1882. That gives the community a useful bit of local geography: the name stayed put while the town itself changed spots. Today, three churches, city services, a library, and Main Street organize the everyday picture.

School life reaches beyond the city limits. A middle school serves Early, Nemaha, Schaller, Galva, and Holstein, with younger grades in Schaller and high school in Holstein. Together they make up Ridge View Community Schools. The Schaller-Crestland district formed in 1993, and the wider school arrangement carries the Wildcats name and black, white, and gold colors. Early's public library also keeps yearbooks and local records close at hand, giving the town a way to hold onto both its first location and its current one.
