About East Bend
East Bend sits in northeastern Yadkin County in the Piedmont Triad, close to the Yadkin River and the foothills around Pilot Mountain. The river corridor has a much older story than the town’s streets: archaeologists working near Donnaha have identified a late Woodland-period Native village site, believed to have held at least a hundred Sioux people. East Bend itself grew as a local trading and farming town, with Main Street businesses and roads leading toward vineyards, the river, and the wider Yadkin Valley.
Two places give the town’s present map a strong sense of continuity. Yadkin Islands Park, part of Pilot Mountain State Park, sits about two miles north and brings river access and outdoor recreation close to town. On Main Street, the 1914 Davis Brothers Store has been renovated as Kitchen Roselli, keeping an old general-store building in active use. East Bend is a small town with a long horizon: Native history along the river, farm and vineyard country around it, and a storefront district that still gives travelers somewhere to stop.
