East Islip, NY

East Islip is a hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Islip on Long Island's South Shore. It has a residential Suffolk County feel, with about fourteen thousand residents and access to nearby bays, marinas, and parkland. Heckscher State Park is the big local outdoor landmark, offering shoreline, trails, and open space along Great South Bay. East Islip is suburban, but its water-side setting gives it more texture than a plain commuter community.
