About East Newnan

East Newnan is an unincorporated community and census-designated place on the east side of Newnan in Coweta County. Its map sits between the older county-seat city and the transportation lines that define this side of the county: U.S. 29 runs through the western portion, while I-85 forms the eastern edge, with the nearby interchange at Exit 41. That makes East Newnan a named piece of the Newnan landscape, with highway movement on one side and older neighborhood streets on the other.

The name also carries a mill-village history. Coweta's planning documents identify East Newnan as one of three former textile-mill villages, along with Arnco and Sargent. The mill employment center is gone, but the village pattern remains in historic houses, connected streets, and small local spaces. The area is also tied to the former East Newnan school and the Newnan-Coweta record of mill workers. For a place without its own city hall, those details do the work of a town center: the road grid, mill housing, edge of Newnan, and interstate just beyond it.
