About East Rocky Hill

East Rocky Hill is a Somerset County CDP within Franklin Township, on the rural side of the township's mix of farms, villages, and commuter roads. The community sits near the Millstone River and the historic Rocky Hill area, where Route 27 follows an old King's Highway corridor through central New Jersey. Franklin Township's larger story also runs along the Delaware and Raritan Canal, built in 1834 and now part of the canal state park. East Rocky Hill does not have a separate municipal government; its identity comes from being one of the township's named communities, close to Rocky Hill and the canal-and-river landscape. It is a small place with a very old road network underneath it.
