About Eastborough

Eastborough is a Sedgwick County city fully enclosed by Wichita, with 756 residents in the 2020 census. Its 21 streets cover about two square miles between Kellogg/U.S. 54 and 2nd Street, mostly east of Woodlawn. The city took shape from two planned additions, Eastborough and Woodlawn, incorporated together in 1937. Burdon Hunter, a British architect, imagined an English village on the Kansas prairie, with winding drives, broad lawns, parks, and a lake; oil drilling delayed the plan before the residential district took its present form. Today, Eastborough is served by Wichita USD 259, with Price-Harris Communications Magnet School and Coleman Middle School among its assigned schools. City Hall is at 1 Douglas Avenue, and Wichita surrounds the community on every side. The place's local character comes from its planned streets, parks, and enclave geography: an independent small city whose original village design remains inside Wichita's much larger urban grid.
