Edgewater is a census-designated place in Jefferson County, Alabama. Located just northeast of the Birmingham suburb of Pleasant Grove, the residential community has a population of approximately seven hundred people. Edgewater was originally founded and built as a planned company town by the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railroad Company to house local industrial workers.
