About Edmonton
Edmonton is Metcalfe County's seat, a Kentucky city laid out beside the South Fork of the Little Barren River. Edmund Rogers surveyed the area and laid out Edmonton in 1800; the legislature established it as a trading post in 1818, and the city became the county seat in 1860. The post office opened in 1830, with the town's name honoring Rogers in an incorrect spelling. U.S. 68 and Kentucky 80 still meet through the center, giving Edmonton the road-and-courthouse shape of an old county seat.
