About Edwards

A new public-service cluster changed routine errands in Edwards in May 2026. Eagle County Commons opened beside Freedom Park with motor-vehicle and recording services, marriage licenses, elections and voter services, public assistance, public health, vaccinations, veterans services, and WIC. The same project includes 20 rental homes reserved for county employees, a small but direct response to workforce housing pressure. Nearby, Freedom Park supplies paved walking and bicycle paths, a dog park, pond, playground, skate park, splash park, and fields used for soccer, lacrosse, and baseball. The Edwards Field House carries recreation indoors with a 15,000-square-foot turf field, a 9,000-square-foot court, gymnastics facilities, climbing and bouldering walls, an e-sports room, camps, and adult leagues. Other services connect that Miller Ranch cluster to the rest of the valley. In July 2026, the Eagle Valley Library District bookmobile stopped weekly at Freedom Park and on alternating weeks at two Edwards apartment communities, carrying English- and Spanish-language materials along with Wi-Fi, Chromebooks, and printing.

Near the commercial core, the nearly 72-acre Eagle River Preserve protects a quarter mile of river frontage as undeveloped public open space. Edwards had 11,246 residents in the 2020 census. Across the 2020-2024 estimates, 63.4 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied, the median owner-occupied value was $937,300, median gross rent was $1,845, and workers' mean travel time was 17.3 minutes. The same estimates show that 20.7 percent of residents were foreign-born, 32.1 percent were Hispanic or Latino, and 29.4 percent of people age five or older spoke a language other than English at home.
