Edwardsburg, MI

Edwardsburg is a village in Ontwa Township, Cass County, northeast of South Bend, with Pleasant Lake as one of its clearest local reference points. The settlement began as Beardsley’s Prairie, where the Fort Wayne and Old Sauk trails met; the Edwards family arrived in 1828, and the village later took the Edwards name before incorporating in 1911. Those old routes put Edwardsburg on a practical crossroads, while the lake gave the growing settlement a second center of gravity.

The village’s current calendar still turns around that shoreline. Gunn Park covers 3.2 acres on Pleasant Lake and hosts the annual Memorial Day Festival; Lindbergh Park carries its own story, tied to the spot where Evangeline Lindbergh’s plane made an emergency landing in 1928. The Edwardsburg Area Historical Museum keeps the surrounding settlement history in view. The local scoop is a small Cass County village where an old trail junction, a lake park, and a named family still line up in the same town.
