Granger's newest major public space was still being built in 2026. St. Joseph County broke ground on Anderson Trail County Park in October 2025 and posts tentative substantial completion for December 2026. The 115.5-acre property sits on Anderson Road, where park construction is adding a county-scale recreation site to an area long served by smaller township facilities. Harris Township Park on Brummitt Road has about 30 acres, a one-mile perimeter walk, playing fields, a playground, pavilion, wooded area, and bird habitat. The township's Elm Road park places pickleball and basketball courts, a baseball diamond, cricket field, playground, pavilion, and prairie restoration beside the Harris Branch library and the Granger Path. That library opens six days weekly, including four evenings until 7 p.m., with public computers, Wi-Fi, study and meeting rooms, a fireplace, and two courtyards. Friends of Granger Paths continues volunteer work toward a 21-mile multi-use network; its May 2026 run raised $8,820 for additional trail construction.

The 2020 census counted 30,337 people in Granger. Owner occupancy reached 95.3 percent in the 2020-2024 estimates, among the clearest features of the local housing pattern. The median owner-occupied value was $331,100, median gross rent was $1,656, and 92.4 percent of people age one or older had remained in the same home from the prior year. The average household size was 2.87; 28.4 percent of residents were under age 18 and 18.1 percent were 65 or older. Median household income was $123,318, 56.3 percent of adults held at least a bachelor's degree, and workers' mean travel time was 21.9 minutes. Granger is a census-designated place rather than a city, and its recreation map shows what that means in practice: township parks, a county project, a library district, and a volunteer path organization supply different pieces of shared civic space.
