About Eldora

Eldora is a Boulder County mountain community in the Middle Boulder Creek valley, at the base of the Ute Mountains and within Roosevelt National Forest. Arapaho and Ute people used the area for summer hunting before Eldora became a mining camp in the 1890s. The boom expanded the settlement, then receded. The Eldora Historic District preserves log, commercial, and rustic tourist buildings from that era, while Eldora Mountain Resort and Indian Peaks Wilderness carry the name into the present. Eldora is an old mining village with a lot of mountain history packed into one valley.
