Ellport, PA

Ellport is a small Lawrence County borough between Ellwood City and Portersville, and even its name is a blend of those two neighboring places. Before it became a borough, the land belonged to Wayne Township and included the original Ellwood City Country Club. More than a third of today’s borough was still part of that country club through 1919; a Pittsburgh realty company began selling lots there in 1920, and residents secured borough status in 1929.

That layout history is still useful when you are getting oriented. Golf Avenue divides the old country-club side from the homes and streets that grew around it, while Rodgers Park and the park on Second Street give the borough its local gathering spots. Ellport is served by the Ellwood City Area School District and remains part of the Pittsburgh-area orbit, but it is not just a nameless edge between larger boroughs. Think of it as a compact place with a deliberately assembled name, a country-club-to-neighborhood backstory, and two small parks doing the everyday work of making it feel like its own borough.
