About Elm Creek

Elm Creek is a Buffalo County village that began with the Union Pacific Railroad’s arrival in 1866. Before the station, the area was heavily timbered with ash, elm, and cottonwood; most of those trees were cut for railroad construction, so the town’s name carries a little echo of the landscape that came before it. Buffalo Stampede Days fill the last weekend in August with a parade, sports, festivities, and a street dance. The village was also home to the Chevyland USA Museum. Elm Creek is Nebraska railroad country with an old tree line, a summer celebration, and a name that remembers the creek.
