Enchanted Oaks, TX

Enchanted Oaks is a Henderson County town on the eastern shore of Cedar Creek Reservoir, with 347 residents in the 2020 census. It lies about fifteen miles northwest of Athens, with the lake shaping nearly every local view and route. Residential streets follow the shoreline and wooded coves, while Payne Springs is to the north and Eustace and Mabank sit within the wider school and shopping orbit. Most of the town belongs to Eustace Independent School District; a small section is assigned to Mabank.

The community took shape after Cedar Creek Reservoir was built and began filling in the 1960s. Enchanted Oaks incorporated on December 17, 1974, and adopted a mayor-council form of government. Its identity is still residential and lake-oriented, with Town Hall, homes, boat ramps, and the reservoir forming the practical center. Cedar Creek is also a major water-supply project for the region, so the lake carries a civic role alongside recreation and second-home life.
