About Eureka

Eureka is an old Tintic mining city in the East Tintic Mountains, sitting around 6,430 feet above sea level at the edge of Juab and Utah counties. Silver, gold, and base-metal mines made the district important, and Eureka became its financial center after incorporation in 1892. The city’s slopes point toward the same mining geography: Godiva Mountain to the south, the Utah County line along the height of land, and the old district spread through the surrounding hills. Eureka’s walking tour and historic buildings make sense once you see the town as a mine-service center in a high desert mountain basin, not merely a stop on the road.
