About Eustace
Eustace is a Henderson County city on US 175 between Athens and Mabank, a town whose name arrived with the railroad. When the Texas and New Orleans Railroad extended its line toward Athens in 1900, the settlement was first called Moseley, then Jolo, before the name Eustace began appearing in deed records by 1901. The city sits about ten miles northwest of Athens, the county seat, and the highway runs through its center. Eustace ISD remains one of the town's main local institutions, with a newer high school serving students in the district. Eustace is a corridor town with a railroad beginning, a school-centered present, and county-seat ties to Athens.
