About Evan
Evan is a Brown County city whose location follows the county's railroad-and-farm history. A spur from Sleepy Eye reached the area in the late 1870s, and the settlement was platted as Hanson Station in 1887 before taking the name Evan; it incorporated in 1904. The post office remained until 1993. Brown County's current landscape runs from river bluffs and wooded ridges to broad agricultural plains, placing Evan in the farm country west of the county's larger towns. Its small street grid is a surviving stop on the railroad branch that once opened this part of the county to settlement.
