Evarts, KY

Tucked into the mountains of Harlan County, Evarts is a small community situated along the Clover Fork of the Cumberland River. Home to fewer than a thousand people, it offers a quiet, down-to-earth pace of life surrounded by steep, wooded hillsides. The town grew out of a nineteenth-century settlement, and that historic character and strong connection to the valley still shape daily life here.

Evarts is best known to visitors as a primary gateway to the Black Mountain Off-Road Adventure Area, giving residents and travelers immediate access to miles of rugged mountain trails. For day-to-day living, families have local Harlan County schools and a community branch library right in town. When you need bigger amenities, a quick drive along Route 38 brings you into the city of Harlan for grocery shopping, restaurants, and medical care.
