Fairfield, UT

Fairfield is a quiet, wide-open rural community tucked into the Cedar Valley, sitting just west of Utah Lake and a short drive south of Eagle Mountain. With fewer than two hundred residents, it feels worlds away from the rapid suburban growth across the rest of Utah County. Back in the late 1850s, though, Fairfield was briefly one of the most populated spots in the Utah Territory when thousands of federal soldiers established Camp Floyd during the Utah War.

During that brief boom, the outpost grew into a lively frontier hub complete with stores, hotels, and entertainment for the troops. Most of the crowd moved on when the soldiers were called east for the Civil War, but Fairfield held on to its pioneer roots. The historic Stagecoach Inn still stands today, marking a time when the town served as a key stop along the Pony Express and the Overland Stage route.

Today, everyday life in Fairfield centers around open space, horse pastures, and peaceful mountain views. Camp Floyd State Park anchors the community, giving residents and visitors a place to explore the restored 1898 schoolhouse, commissary museum, and local events throughout the year. For major grocery runs, modern conveniences, and dining, locals take a quick drive up the highway to Saratoga Springs or Lehi, leaving Fairfield as a peaceful retreat for anyone seeking classic Utah country living.
