About Falkner
Falkner is a Tippah County town along Mississippi Highway 15, north of Ripley and near the junction with Highway 370 toward Ashland. The 2020 census counted 437 residents. The town’s name honors William Clark Falkner, great-grandfather of novelist William Faulkner, giving this small crossroads a literary connection that is easy to miss on the road map.
North Tippah School District is based in Falkner and serves the communities of Falkner, Walnut, Tiplersville, and Chalybeate. Falkner Elementary and Falkner High School sit on Highway 15, so the district’s buildings are part of the town’s main corridor. Because the district office is also on Highway 15, school administration and student life share the same route through town. That makes the highway feel like a local spine. With school offices, local roads, and the two state highways organizing the map, Falkner reads as a northern Tippah County service point: small in population, but connected to the surrounding rural communities through school and road routes.
