Fallston, NC

Tucked into the rolling foothills of Cleveland County, Fallston is a quiet rural community of around 600 residents. Long before it was incorporated in the 1890s, the area was known as Kitchen Corner, serving as a busy stagecoach stop for travelers passing between Lincolnton and Rutherfordton. The town took its modern name from John Zemri Falls, who built an early mill, sawmill, and general store that anchored the growing settlement.

Today, Fallston retains that relaxed crossroads feel where NC 18 meets NC 182, still known locally as Stage Coach Trail. Rolling pastures and family farms surround the small cluster of local businesses, churches, and homes. It offers a scenic, slow-paced slice of western North Carolina with plenty of open space, while larger hubs like Shelby and Hickory remain an easy drive away.
