Farmington, UT

The Haight family settled present-day Farmington in 1847 and established both a farm and an inn. Five more pioneer families arrived in 1849, and the growing community was first called North Cottonwood Settlement. Farmington is now the Davis County seat, with 24,531 residents counted in 2020. Its 49-mile trail system runs from the Wasatch foothills east of town toward wetlands near the Great Salt Lake to the west. The S&S Shortline Railroad Park and Museum holds more than 90 pieces of railroad equipment, including a two-foot-gauge, oil-powered steam locomotive built by Crown Metal Products. Lagoon Amusement Park and the Station Park transit-oriented retail center are also in the city.
